Patented Dual Reflective Layers | (DRL) Techology
The Century Disc provides you with a protective over-layer (like a top coating) that is made from real 24-karat Gold. This 24-karat gold layer maximizes the disc's data life to over 100+ years by preventing corrosion and oxidation of the recording layer. The recording layer is an encapsulated Silver under-layer protected by the gold layer. This real Silver reflective layer enhances laser-reflectivity of the data or the media on the disc. The encapsulated Silver under-layer also enables a broader Read & Write compatibility on commonly used equipment ( 48X on the CD-R and 8X on the DVD-R ). So you don't have to buy new equipment to use the Century Disc.
Together, these patented Dual Reflective Layers (DRL) (not to be confused with dual-layer double-space discs) ensure these discs to be superior in performance and every longevity standard compared to "Gold-only" Discs.
Think about looking into a mirror, would you rather see a reflection of yourself in a "regular silver mirror" or would you like to see yourself with a gold tint? That's just one of the reasons the silver reflective layer was added to this product. To give you a truer reflection of what you are copying onto your discs. Whether data, photos, images, videos, or even sound.
Silver has a more 'natural reflective' property than gold. But, gold is actually better for longevity and archival purposes. With the Century Disc, you don't have to make that decision, we offer you the best of both worlds. You don't have to sacrifice equipment compatibility in exchange for longevity and reliability.
Universal Print Surface | Inkjet or Thermal Capable
The Century Disc's custom white printable surface allows you to print directly to the disc. It works in all Standard Inkjet Printers (using disc printer trays), permits marker and permanent marker use, they can be used in Thermal printers or even silk-screened in mass-production runs.
Printing our discs in an inkjet or thermal printer doesn't harm the disk, knock it out of balance, or effect the use of the disc in any way. In fact, the custom white printable surface adds to the longevity of the disc life and helps to protect the 24-karat Gold Protective Over-Layer from scratches.
With Century Disc, you don't have to decide whether you need the Thermal printable label or the Inkjet printable label, use either or just write directly on the surface with a marker or pen and store it for life.
Whether you're customizing an on-disc presentation, printing custom home movie titles, or just want to label your discs to keep them organized, Century Disc makes your life easier.

Hard Coat Scratch-Resistant Recording Surface
SRS Technology
Now you can have the same kind of protection on your CDs or DVDs as the Blu-ray Discs. The Ultra-Hard Coat used on these discs are up to 100 times harder than the disc itself. UHC protects your data and helps to ensure playability by guarding against the ravages of gouges, scratches, fingerprint smudges and even dust.
Because Century Disc's Ultra-Hard Coat is applied while the disc is being manufactured, it doesn't have to be moved from one machine to the next (as opposed to an after-thought coating as with most other disc manufacturers). This unique process protects the disc from dust, debris, and other environmental elements during the manufacturing process.
Precise Groove Engineering | Equals Minimal BLER
Only 25,000 of these Century Discs are produced per stamper die run, compared to 500,000 or more ordinary discs produced per stamper die run for "normal mass production discs." This process ensures each and every disc performs to Exact High Standard Designs everytime they are used. This type of precise engineering also promotes Perfect Laser Tracking which reduces laser wear-and-tear on your equipment and minimizes common block errors (BLER) found on the average mass-produced discs.
All discs are manufactured with block errors by nature. The difference is the amount of block errors on any given disc. The average disc is reported to have approximately 40 - 50 block errors per second of play/record time. Century Discs have been tested to report no more than 15 block errors per second (BLER) and one out of ten discs are reported to have a rating of 10 BLER or less.
With Century Discs, you know that every disc you are buying is 1 of only 25,000 produced per run, compared to 1 out of 500,000 or more per run with other brands.
Patented AZO Dye
AZO Media Dye tests as the best media dye in the industry. Archival Gold Century Disc uses a newly formulated, patented AZO Media Dye. AZO Media Dye burns at lower predictable temperatures than any other dye used in the media industry today. AZO Media Dye is more reliable and reduces laser wear. AZO Media Dye also rejects the negative effects of UV Light and actually adds to the longevity and Archival Life of the Disc.
AZO Media Dye completely decomposes as it is being burned (written to) unlike most other discs produced. Other media dyes can leave a residue which could re-burn or re-decompose by the effects of UV Light, other lasers, and other elements which can lead to earlier corrosion and deterioration of those discs. This patented AZO Media Dye burns once ensuring what you intended to record is recorded and won't get re-burned or decompose when exposed to sunlight or even other lasers.
